A combination of quick activities, video clips, notebook fold-ups, and animal observations will help you teach your life cycles unit in a snap. The unit is geared toward 2nd grade, but perhaps appropriate for 1st or 3rd depending on students’ readiness levels and your state’s standards.

What’s included?
Students start by observing an organism’s life cycle in the classroom. You choose the animal! Mealworms are easy to care for and observe, but tadpoles are the coolest! Your students will love observing and recording the big changes each animal goes through.
Students learn about the human life cycle. How have they changed since birth?
Learn about the life cycles of penguins, butterflies, crickets, watermelons, and frogs.
Compare and contrast various life cycles.
Compare and contrast incomplete metamorphosis and complete metamorphosis.
